Why We Built Haik
Every mainstream dating app is designed for neurotypical social dynamics — indirect communication, reading between the lines, performing interest in culturally prescribed ways. For autistic and ADHD adults, navigating these apps often means either masking exhaustively or being systematically misread.
Haik was built on a different premise: that direct communication is a feature, not a flaw. That special interests are the best conversation starter. That a smaller community where everyone understands each other is worth more than access to millions who don't.
We are neurodivergent people who built the app we always wished existed. Haik is free because neurodivergent adults shouldn't have to pay for the right to be understood.

Neurodivergent Relationship Specialist & AuDHD Advocate
Sarah Chen is an AuDHD advocate and relationship specialist who was diagnosed autistic at 27. After years of feeling misunderstood in mainstream dating spaces, she dedicated herself to researching and building community around neurodivergent dating. Sarah holds a master's degree in counseling psychology from UC Berkeley and has worked with autistic and ADHD adults on social connection and relationships for over five years. She personally tested every dating app reviewed on Haik, spending a minimum of 30 days on each platform to assess sensory-friendliness, communication features, and genuine community fit for autistic and ADHD users.
